My family has an annual reunion on the first Saturday of August in Burlington, Vermont and I enjoy attending it, when I can. On that same weekend each year is the Festival Of Fools. It’s a curated event of street theater to celebrate the circus arts, music and comedy for family audiences. The festival takes place at the Church Street Marketplace….an outdoor pedestrian shopping and dining mall. I met with some family, had dinner and enjoyed the entertainment.
Most anyone who knows me is aware that I love the American Southwest. These images are from two slot canyons outside Page, Arizona…..Canyon X and Lower Antelope Canyon. The first image is the entrance to the latter canyon. The swirling rock patterns are created by flash floods that periodically rush through the canyons walls. Light enters from the canyon opening above and bounces down through the levels of rock creating a variety of colors and patterns. As the sun moves across the sky, these colors and patterns are gradually changing. All the images in which I’m included are self-portraits using a tripod and the camera’s self-timer.
